"How Much For That Doggy In The WIndow?"

SS - SciFi

Treatment:

WHO - A geneticist who disappeared off the grid a decade before.
WHAT - Changing the dog genome for the true ultimate better.
WHERE - KS, IN, MW as you can get. Small towns that stay small, minimizing the chances of the dogs going someplace where  they will be noticed. Explore that theme a little more.
WHEN - Mid to late teens, early 20's (2013-218, through to 2024ish)
WHY - With all of the bad that can be done intentionally, and unintentionally, wouldn't it be nice to have a positive force to help counter all of the other possibilities?
HOW - Of course the genetic aspect {coding for speech recognition / cognition, communication of latent dog instincts (think Pickles), longevity, Ho'oMaluness}, ability to pass on desirable traits, ease of  'programming' to specific individuals. Think the 'Dog Whisperer' in 'The Matrix' world. "I know, doggy tag team Jujitsu."

Premise - A dog breeder has a new cross breed that is genetically modified. Think a dog with 10,000 years more experience of co-habituating with humans.

Randoms - can train your dog to you (dragon speak software)
things you would never expect to train (listen seizure, heart attack, etc)
completely benign (a feel good SF)

The New 'Choose Your Own Adventure'

1 Bad Day

Treatment:

WHO - Main, male character. God some shade in his life. May be learning a bit more toward the darker side.
WHAT - We all know about ups and downs in life. I noticed that no one ever has one great day in their life that sets the tone for a whole series of great days for months to come. Yet, we (I feel) understand that intimately all it takes is one bad day to give you months or worse years of grief. Example: a car accident. From the one action, we have the following bad -
Injury (months to recover, or more)
Loss of vehicle (weeks, if not more)
Possible legal issues (weeks, months, years)
Monetary loss (you get the picture)
WHERE - South Bay, specifically South Side. North, and Santa Clara.
WHEN - Early '90's.
WHY - Bad times are tests. Without the bad, how good does the good really feel. And the good give you strength to get through bad.
HOW - Put together a bad day, explain it 'Groundhog's Day' style. But we take you to a story already in progress. Main characters worry is that, replays will stop before he gets it right, or at least close enough to survive (i.e. no life in prison, shoot out with cops, or KIA)

WHEN - Late '90's, early '00's
WHY - Because sometimes it just needs to.

A Winter Holiday Tale

Merry Christmahanakwanzika

Treatment:

WHO - The multi-ethnic/cultural kids of Hui Rd F
WHAT - Try to figure out who's celebrating the proper and correct holiday.
WHERE - Hui Rd. F Maui
WHEN - early to mid '90's.
WHY - It's time for a new Winter Holiday Tale.
HOW - Introduce a new child to the neighborhood. It being the holiday season, talk keeps turning to the celebrations. Everyone, wants to know about the new kids beliefs ("do you eat this?" or "do you do this tradition?") but quickly devolve into explaining their own holiday and why it's the best. Weave the common denominators, first by showing various mores, and the differences. Then tie them together by showing what looks different is really the same.
